Arusha's Action Film Series
Calgary's Arusha Centre hosted a screening of the film Wal-Town, an incisive critique of Wal-Mart's impact on communities as told through the stories of local activists. Following the film, PIA Executive Director Bill Moore-Kilgannon and Oxford University's Dr. Ana Maria Peredo discussed corporatism and advocacy on the global and local scale.

Global Visions Film Festival
Public Interest Alberta and the Alberta Federation of Labour joined together to host a screening of The Big Sellout, a film that chronicles the impact of privatization through the daily lives of the people affected. The film was followed by discussion by PIA Executive Director Bill Moore-Kilgannon and AFL President Gil McGowan.

Escape From Suburbia
Public Interest Alberta presented the premier screenings of the documentary "Escape From Suburbia". Presented in Red Deer, Calgary, Edmonton and Lethbridge, PIA invited local activists to present their alternatives to urban development and discuss Alberta's energy future.

Changing Alberta: Pursuing the Public Interest
Public Interest Alberta held its first annual conference on advocacy and the public interest in Alberta. The conference featured a keynote presentation by Tony Clark of the Polaris Institute, and panel discussions with national and international experts in education, childcare, energy, living wage and others.
