We Can Do Better - Poverty Reduction Forums

The following is an overview of a forum series leading up to the release of the report, We Must Do Better: It's Time to Make Alberta Poverty-Free. To read more on the report, released on November 24, 2009, click here.

This summer and fall, Public Interest Alberta, along with many partner and sponsor organizations, coordinated a series of seven public forums around Alberta on the important theme of poverty and poverty reduction.  Through keynote speeches, breakout sessions and public discussion, the forums sought to build support for a much-needed comprehensive poverty reduction strategy for the province.

Following from the forum series, PIA and others will be holding media events on November 24 to continue the dialogue and seek action on poverty reduction.  November 24 marks the 20th anniversary of the federal government's commitment to end child poverty in Canada by the year 2000.
