Public Interest Alberta (PIA) will host two media conferences on Friday, March 7th to release the details of the freedom of information request to try to determine the fate of the $25.9 million dollars the federal government gave Alberta in the summer of 2007 to create more childcare spaces.
Public Interest Alberta made the freedom of information request on December 6th after the provincial government failed to outline a new plan to create more childcare spaces. In early February, PIA was sent a letter saying the FOIPP request could not be delivered in the usual 30 day time limit as they needed to consult with 3rd parties, and so the request would be delivered by March 3rd.
