Develop the Full Potential of ALL Alberta's Students:
Give Our Children and Schools All the Tools for Success
Albertans want our education system to develop the full potential of every child. But despite Alberta's remarkable wealth, that is still not happening.
Most Albertans know there are many things missing or needing improvement in our current education system. Too many children are falling through the cracks, and the gifts, talents and potential of many students are not being fully developed.
And some of these cracks are physical, too, with infrastructure problems at a critical stage in many communities.
Unfortunately, the provincial government has denied that our schools need more support in order to do their essential work.
It's time for us to tell the government what is needed in order to "get it right" in our children's and students' classrooms and schools. After all, schooling is the foundation on which Alberta's future - everyone's future - is built.
Send a strong message to the Alberta government
Step One: Send your comments to to the Minister of Education and your MLA on what your children's or students' school needs to develop the full potential of all the children. Check the box on the postcard to find out more about Public Interest Alberta's public education campaign.
Step Two: Learn about the state of Public Education in Alberta. Public Interest Alberta contracted a professional survey company, Burke and Associates, to conduct a comprehensive online survey about Albertans' views on our K-12 education system. We recieved over 4000 completed surveys and released a Report of the Findings at a media conference on Monday, November 20. (Click here to see the highlights of the findings or here to read the media release).
Step Three: Please sign up to our education e-news list in order to get the notification of the report when it is released in November.
This campaign receives support from member organizations of Public Interest Alberta and has received advice and input from educational organizations representing parent advocates, teachers, school support and custodial staff, school trustees, post-secondary faculty and students and others.
