Towards Developing a Living Wage Policy
There are now living wage laws in over 100 communities in North America. Public Interest Alberta believes it is time for citizens in Alberta to start a dialogue on the effects that low wages have on our communities and how we can change the situation.
We strongly believe part of the solution is to look at the concept of the Living Wage. The first step in this process is to gather information from people from around Alberta about what they think a living wage should include and the level at which it should be set in their communities. Your input into this process will help us to understand what Albertans think a living wage should be, and will help to define the strategy for future campaigns in communities around Alberta.
Take part in defining what a Living Wage would mean in your community, by taking our online Living Wage Survey!
Public Interest Alberta has also developed a short booklet with background information on the Living Wage. You can download a pdf version of Making a Living: Defining a Living Wage for Alberta, or read the information on-line below.
