A recent poll by Leger shows declining support, even among UCP supporters, for pulling Alberta out of the Canada Pension Plan and establishing an Alberta pension plan (APP) in its place. That poses a political problem for the Smith government, one that they will surely address in the coming months.
Just as interesting, an Abacus poll released last fall produced numbers that were more detailed and more than a bit ironic. Apparently, opposition to the APP is highest among older Albertans, while support for the proposal is highest among those aged 18 to 29. So where’s the irony? Read more →
