Today, Bradley Lafortune, Executive Director of Public Interest Alberta, issued the following statement of support to mobilize alongside Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) members who gave notice of an imminent strike that will begin at 12:01 A.M. ET on Wednesday, April 19th if no deal is reached by 7 P.M. MT today:

“Public Interest Alberta supports federal workers. We call on all our members and supporters to stand in solidarity and join the picket line with federal employees in Alberta. For too long, the Canada Revenue Agency and Treasury Board have been telling federal workers to wait – but workers can’t wait any longer.

“Whether it’s fair wages or flexible working conditions that reflect the reality workers live with, the employer needs to recognize that a fair deal is not just an option here – it’s essential and workers are willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

“We encourage all our supporters from across Alberta to join one of the pickets in Alberta tomorrow morning, on Wednesday, April 19. The time is now to show our support for frontline workers who deliver the public services we all rely on!”
