On December 10, 2014, we presented our annual Public Interest Awards at our annual holiday open house.

Southern Alberta Award

The recipient for Southern Alberta was Dr. Paul Parks, Trauma Medical Director and Department of Emergency Medicine Chief at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, for his many years of speaking out to challenge the government to address our long-term care shortage, which he says is a major underlying reason for the overcrowding of Alberta's emergency rooms. He was nominated by Noel Somerville, Chair of Public Interest Alberta's Seniors' Task Force. Dr. Parks donated his $750 award (courtesy of Alberta Views magazine) to Friends of Medicare.Southern Alberta Public Interest Award presentation
