Public Interest Alberta wants the provincial government to increase public funding for child care
A provincial advocacy group says child-care resources in Alberta are falling behind too many other Canadian provinces.Public Interest Alberta says child care isn't growing with the population and is forcing some parents to stop working in order to accommodate child-care needs.Julie Hrdlicka, the group�s Calgary co-ordinator, is calling on the provincial government to increase public funding for child care.�That means investing resources, increasing wage for workers, but also investing in support," Hrdlicka said.�We're concerned about a bunch of things and that's why we're here. To put it front foremost on the minds of Albertans that it�s an important issue and to join the campaign and help us put pressure on politicians to make it a priority.�According to the organization, Alberta rates sixth lowest among Canadian provinces in per capita funding.
