Edmonton Citizens Forum

 

Please join the Education Task Force of Public Interest Alberta for a Citizens' Forum on issues related to K - 12 Education on both a local and provincial level. This will be a moderated forum with three panel discussions and question and answer periods where citizens and community members can become informed and voice their concerns.

The evening will focus on topics that all political parties should make priorities in the coming provincial election.

The panel discussions will focus on the need for:


- Reduced class sizes

Jonathan Teghtmeyer - Associate Coordinator, Communications for Alberta Teachers' Association

- Stronger in-class supports for children with complex needs

Carol Chapman, President of CUPE Local 3550, representing Edmonton Public Schools support staff

Heather Quinn, President of Edmonton Public Teachers

- Greater focus on student mental health supports and early childhood development

Shelagh Dunn, Trustee for Edmonton Public School Board, Ward C

Christopher Smith, Assistant Executive Director for Muttart Foundation
