FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 19, 2025

EDMONTON Public Interest Alberta released the following statement in response to Auditor General Doug Wylie’s report examining the “contract with Dynalife” for laboratory services, which was found to have wasted public dollars, caused service disruption, and adversely impacted staff and patients:

“Our message to the UCP government is simple: please stop burning public dollars and put resources back where they belong – back in the public system.”

Background:

The AG’s report found that the government’s insistence on privatization of laboratory services led to:

  • non-value-add expenditure of taxpayer dollars ($125 million between 2013-2023)

  • disrupted services

  • adverse impacts on patients and staff

The AG also noted that he does not feel confident he had access to all relevant and complete information in the course of his reporting, raising concerns about government transparency and accountability

Executive Director, Bradley Lafortune is available for interviews.
