On November 15-17, join our friends at Parkland Institute — a progressive think-tank based at the University of Alberta — for their 28th Annual Fall Conference, “The Road Ahead: Strategies for Building a Better Future.”
This year’s conference will feature an exciting lineup of speakers, including Pulitzer-prize finalist John Vaillant, Cree-Métis professor Shalene Jobin, activist and podcaster Nora Loreto, award-winning feminist activist Debbie Owusu-Akyeeah, and professor and research co-director Ginetta Salvalaggio, among others.
Topics on the agenda cover issues such as the new reality of wildfires in a climate-changed world, the future of Canada’s social safety net, the rise of anti-science evidence-manufacturing narratives, and more. New this year, the conference program will include hands-on skills-building workshops on topics like organizing, storytelling, and dealing with conflict.
“The Road Ahead” will be held in person on the University of Alberta campus (ETLC) and via livestream. Visit the conference website for a full list of speakers and sessions, to register online, and to find out how to volunteer for the event.
