EDMONTON - Public Interest Alberta’s Executive Director Bradley Lafortune made the following statement in response to the UCP government’s “framework on affordable housing:”

“More people will be without homes as a direct result of this so-called framework.

“Industry has been in the ear of this government every step of the way. Not Albertans struggling with housing. Not housing providers with front-line experience. And not Albertans with compassion for their homeless neighbours.

“Homelessness is on the rise and has doubled since the beginning of the pandemic in Edmonton. We need more housing options — including public — not fewer.

“Public Interest Alberta along with our partners will continue to oppose Bill 78 and this framework to ensure an alternative vision for adequate, accessible and affordable housing for all.”
