Ready for the Fight: Lessons from a Seattle City Councilor for Building a Robust Democracy in Alberta
Webinar April 7 at 7pm MST
Kshama Sawant, one of America’s few elected socialists, has been under constant attack since she took office in 2013 at Seattle’s City Hall. A bold and outspoken advocate, Councilor Sawant refuses to back down and abandon her deep commitment to the betterment of the lives of working people in Seattle. This has also meant that conservatives, big corporations, and the status quo political establishment have done everything they can to take her down and get her out of office.
Join us for the second Transition Series event, a conversation with Kshama Sawant about her fights at Seattle’s City Hall and what we in Alberta can learn from her story and experiences. This will be a discussion and presentation, and takes place on Zoom, April 7th, 7:00pm MST. All are welcome, and payment is not required to attend.
The Transition Series is a collaboration of progressive organizations aimed at profiling and addressing various social, economic and environmental issues in Alberta. Register here →
